Rachel McIntosh is an American dramatic soprano based in Helsinki. She is a graduate of the Sibelius Academy’s Opera Masters program, where she studied with Monica Groop. Previously, she earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Carmen Pelton.
She is an avid recitalist, and most recently sang in Oulu’s Villa Salmenranta festival alongside pianist Markus Vaara. She was also featured in "Love Letters," a recital presented at the Savonlinna Festival Academy in July of 2021.
Rachel will appear as a semi-finalist in the Toivo Kuula competition in August 2021. Rachel was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2021 Lyra Competition, and in the 2020 Sibelius Singing competition, which was cancelled because of the spread of COVID-19.
Rachel's previous stage roles include Venus and L’Opinion Publique in Orphee aux enfer (Jacques Offenbach), Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia (Benjamin Britten), Ruggiero in Alcina (G.F. Handel), and Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito (WA Mozart), which she sang as a mezzo-soprano.
